You Are
A person who wants to help a group of people explore differences and disagreements
The Problem
Many people are uncomfortable discussing differences and disagreements
The Solution
A group activity helps people reveal and discuss their divergent perspectives
The Result
Participants gain the knowledge, skills, and comfort they need to explore their differences
How to Do This Activity (2 hrs., 10+ people)
Facilitators need an additional 30 minutes to prepare, plus 1 hour to do the Are You Ready To Talk? toolkit.
Facilitators:
1. Conduct an intake conversation
2. Develop or select target statements
3. Set up the room
4. Introduce activity directions and norms
5. Ask participants to agree or disagree with each target statement by crossing a line on the floor
6. Moderate conversations among participants about their responses
7. Conduct a debriefing conversation
8. Share your story (optional)
OPTIONAL: If you want to evaluate the impact of this toolkit, participants will need to complete the Pre-toolkit Survey before doing the toolkit activities and the Post-toolkit Survey after doing the activities.
