Developed by Williams, Yu, Jackson, & Anderson (1997), the 20-item Perceived Discrimination Scale measures how often people feel that others treat them badly or unfairly on the basis of race, ethnicity, gender, age, religion, physical appearance, sexual orientation, or other characteristics. The scale covers discrimination in different areas of life, including at school, at work, and in one's neighborhood.

Philadelphia Adverse Childhood Experiences (PHL ACEs)

Developed by Cronholm et. al. (2015), the Philadelphia Adverse Childhood Experiences Survey (PHL ACEs) measures childhood exposure to trauma. The PHL ACEs contains two subscales: the Conventional Adverse Childhood Experiences (Conventional ACEs) subscale and the Expanded Adverse Childhood Experiences (Expanded ACEs) subscale.

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE)

Developed by Felitti and colleagues (1998), the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Scale includes 17 items that measure childhood exposure to trauma such as psychological, physical, or sexual abuse, neglect, mental illness, domestic violence, divorce, and having a parent in prison. Higher scores on this scale mean that the respondent has gone through more types of childhood trauma.
