A high school or college student who wants to do better in school or an educator who wants to help students improve
The Problem
Low-income students and students of color often earn worse grades than do wealthier and White students
The Solution
Plotting a path from who you are now to who you want to be in the future helps students identify with school and earn better grades
The Result
Students do better in school, ultimately increasing their earnings, social status, health, and wellbeing
How to Do This Activity (1 hour)
Students:
1. Find a partner who wants to do better in school
2. Identify one another’s superpowers
3. Plot a path to yourself in the future
4. Discuss your paths with one another
5. Share your story (optional)
OPTIONAL: If you want to evaluate the impact of this toolkit, you will need to complete the pre-toolkit survey before doing the toolkit activities and the post-toolkit survey after doing the activities.
