RaceWorks
You Are
An educator or facilitator who wants to develop students’ or coworkers’ racial literacy
The Problem
People often mistake race for something that people “are” rather than actions that people “do,” hindering their ability to fight racism
The Solution
A series of short films and activities featuring the latest Stanford scholarship about how people do race and how to undo racism
The Result
Students or coworkers develop the knowledge and skills to promote racial equity
How to Use This Toolkit
1. Watch the RaceWorks video series to learn about race as a doing, doing race and undoing racism through specific topic areas (e.g., immigration), and the role racial perception plays in doing race. For more background, check out the concept guides on defining race and the culture cycle.
2. Get ready to facilitate conversations about race by using SPARQ’s Are You Ready to Talk? toolkit.
3. Plan lessons and lead activities about doing race and undoing racism (video 1).
4. Plan lessons and lead activities about doing race and undoing racism by topic area (videos 2 – 7).
5. Plan lessons and lead activities about doing race and undoing racism in racial perception (videos 8 – 9).
6. Participate in a social change challenge to undo racism.
