You Are
A person who wants to have or lead a conversation about different identities, experiences, or viewpoints
The Problem
Conversations about how we differ can be stressful
The Solution
Four brief activities prepare you to discuss differences
The Result
The ability not only to explore differences with people in your own life, but also to facilitate conversations among others and lead activities such as Beyond the Line and Fishbowl Discussions
How to Do This Activity (1 hour)
1. Assess the strengths you already have
2. Map your identities
3. Identify your “hot buttons”
4. Learn the LARA method for tense talks
5. Have or lead a discussion about difference
6. Share your story (optional)
OPTIONAL: If you want to evaluate the impact of this toolkit, complete the Pre-toolkit Survey before doing the toolkit activities and the Post-toolkit Survey after doing the activities.
